11/14/2014 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION - EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A0928314 Tiger walks calmly on the leash during his relief walk. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment - soft body, low wag. Tiger was calm and relaxed during handling. During tag he followed at the end of the leash with soft body language. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl, and showed minimal interest in toys and the rawhide item. Tiger rushed in quickly during the dog-dog test, but showed no aggression. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor's hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog's mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog may smell and lick, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog may smell and lick, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches the helper dog, body soft, tail well above spine level, ears forward.

A volunteer writes:
Tiger is a big, brindled hunk of a dog that has been charming staff and volunteers since his arrival at Brooklyn ACC. He's definitely a looker, but the heart of his charm lies in his sweet disposition! Despite seeing him almost daily, I don't think I've ever heard him bark - he is always very patient in his cage. The strong silent type maybe, but definitely not one to push around his physical strength; Tiger is a dream on the leash - pulling only when he has a little playful burst of joy to celebrate being in the company of his person, and even then he remains very attentive and easy to handle. His tail wags when you speak to him and he is incredibly affectionate. He loves to be pet, any lap is just his size, and he even solicited belly rubs from staff on intake! Tiger has been calm when we've encountered other dogs, including two small neigborhood dogs that seemed to be challenging him! To boot, Tiger seems to have housetraining and knows "sit" and "paw" (for which he takes treats like a gentleman!) Do you have a place in your kingdom for Tiger?? He is waiting patiently for someone to notice what a catch he is!
